One bloom to savor

After the late frost

We had a late frost in Atlanta this spring, and I lost most of the buds on my hydrangeas—even though I tried to cover them. That makes this last mophead of the summer feel especially worth stopping to enjoy.

Incidentally, these same bushes were beautiful blues when we moved in more than ten years ago. Now they bloom pink, so I suppose the soil acidity has shifted over the years. The garden is always changing, whether I plan for it or not.
